Shortly before christmas I always meet up with my old friend from university. She lives in a small city actually not that far away but is always busy managing her and her boyfriends’ online business. So, we usually only meet each other in pre-christmas time. A few years ago we went to this Vietnamese-style vegan restaurant. Instead of meat they use tofu or meat substitute based on soya. I have never been a fan of those vegan or vegetarian products that aim to taste like meat. So I was positively surprised that the meat substitute in our food was different and had their own taste, although they call it “veggie beef” on their menue.

We started our meal with a mango-salad with carrots, veggie beef and herbs. As maincourse I had bún thịt nướng (rice noodles with veggie beef with salad and peanuts) and my friend had a mango-curry with fresh pinapples and veggie chicken.
