Almost exactly a year ago, I left my old company and thus had a little farewell party with my colleagues. I decorated the kitchen and the hallway with my old business cards and prepared a few snacks.


There was chips, pretzels, pita bread, bulgur salad, avocado dip and hummus. A colleague baked a tasy sheet-cake with almonds. Also, there was lots and lots of beer!

It is so easy and quick to make hummus and avocado dip. When I come home after work and have no clue what I should cook for dinner, I make hummus. It is very healthy and contains many vitamins. I always have a can of chickpeas at home. All you need is:

1 can of chickpeas (you can also use 400-500g dried chickpeas – should be soaked in water over night)
2 tbsp tahini (sesame paste) or peanut butter
1-2 garlic cloves
lemon juice
(olive) oil
curry powder
bell pepper powder
salt, pepper to taste

Put everything in a bowl and mash/blend it to a creamy paste. For a richer flavor, you can prepare it a day before you want to eat it. But I can never wait that long. 😛

The avocado dip is also very tasty and quick to make:

1 avocado, mashed
1/2 pack of cream cheese
1 garlic clove, crushed
salt, pepper to taste
optional: tomatoes, diced

Mix everything together and enjoy!
