I read an interesting article by Timeout Tokio about the origins of 御握り onigiri. And apparently, today is Onigiri Day! 🙂
Making onigiri is very simple and fast. Unless you try to make some special shape (like I failed at making panda onigiri). You can make plain onigiris with only rice and 海苔 nori seaweed or e.g. add a tuna-mayo-filling or mix rice with 振り掛け furikake.
